Product Recall Notice

Adobo Blaze Marinade

Voluntary Recall — Issued 30 July 2026

Summary

Hugo & Franc's Burgertorium is voluntarily recalling one batch of our Adobo Blaze Marinade (340ml) because it may contain gluten, an allergen not declared on the label. If you or someone in your household has a gluten allergy, coeliac disease, or gluten intolerance, do not consume this product.

What's affected

  • Product: Adobo Blaze Marinade, 340ml
  • Batch code: HF-2026-0714 (printed on the base of the bottle)
  • Best before: March 2027
  • Sold at: Hugo & Franc's Burgertorium restaurants, select grocery retailers, and hugoandfrancs.com between 14 July and 29 July 2026

No other Hugo & Franc's products or batches are affected.

Why we're recalling it

Our Adobo Blaze Marinade is made with a gluten-free tamari in place of traditional soy sauce, so it can carry a gluten-free claim. During a routine label audit, we found that this batch was accidentally filled using regular wheat-based soy sauce instead of the gluten-free tamari, meaning it contains gluten that isn't declared on the label. This is a labeling and formulation error, not a contamination issue. For most customers there is no safety concern. For anyone with coeliac disease, a gluten allergy, or a gluten intolerance, this product could cause a reaction, so we're asking everyone who bought it to check their batch code.

What to do

  1. Check the batch code on the base of the bottle against HF-2026-0714.
  2. If it matches, stop using the product.
  3. Do not return it to the store. Contact us using the details below and we'll arrange a full refund.
  4. You don't need a receipt. A photo of the batch code is enough.

Refund

Email recall@burgertorium.com or call 1800 555 0182, Monday to Friday, 8am to 6pm. Include a photo of the batch code and we'll process your refund within 5 business days.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to eat if I don't have coeliac disease or a gluten intolerance?
Yes. This is a labeling and formulation issue, not a contamination issue. The product is safe for anyone without coeliac disease, a gluten allergy, or a gluten intolerance.

How did this happen?
A supplier mix-up meant regular wheat-based soy sauce was used in place of our gluten-free tamari for this one batch. We've since added a verification step so every batch is checked against its formulation before bottling.

Are other Hugo & Franc's products affected?
No. This recall is limited to the single batch listed above.

When will the product be back on shelves?
A relabeled, verified batch will be back in stores and online from mid-August 2026.
